Sr. Mary Ellen Barrette

Sister Mary Ellen was born on a farm near Essex Junction, Vermont, and spent her early years there until her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. She joined the Glenmary Sisters in 1955, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from St. Louis University.

Sister has also served in missions in North Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky and Texas.

She now lives and ministers in Millen, Georgia, where she is Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Minister. She also assists with Religious Education and other parish ministries in Sylvania, Georgia.

Her special interests include hiking, walking on the beach, bowling and crossword puzzles. She is also an avid fan of the local high school football teams and of professional baseball.
